Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352 Review — Best Budget Upright Vacuum?

I used to think you needed to spend $400+ on a Dyson to get a decent vacuum. Then my neighbor, who runs a cleaning business, told me she uses Shark Navigators for all her clients. "They're cheaper, lighter, and the Lift-Away feature saves my back on stairs." I bought one that week.

Eight months and countless vacuum sessions later, here's my honest take on the Shark Navigator Lift-Away NV352.

The Lift-Away Feature: Genuinely Useful, Not a Gimmick

Press one button and the canister pod detaches from the upright body. Now you're carrying a 12-lb canister vacuum (with the power brush still attached to the wand) instead of wrestling a full upright up the stairs. For a 2-story house with carpeted stairs, this is a game changer. The pod also reaches under low furniture where a full upright won't fit.

Pet Hair Performance — The Real Test

We have a golden retriever who sheds enough to build a second dog every week. The Shark Navigator picks up embedded pet hair from medium-pile carpet on a single pass — no going back and forth 5 times like my old Bissell. The brush roll does get hair wrapped around it after 2-3 sessions, but the groove design makes it easier to cut and remove than other vacs I've owned.

Hard Floor Mode

Flip the switch to "Hard Floor" and the brush roll stops spinning (it does still spin slightly — not a true shutoff). Suction-only cleaning on hardwood and tile is effective, though you'll want to sweep larger debris first. Fine dust and pet dander get completely picked up thanks to the sealed HEPA system.

What Could Be Better

The hose is only about 5 feet extended, which makes cleaning ceiling corners awkward. You'll need to detach the pod for those jobs. The cord is 25 feet — decent, but you'll need to switch outlets for large rooms. And I really wish there was a cord rewind button — manually wrapping the cord feels outdated in 2026.
